About Our English Programmes

Will there be lessons during holidays?

Public Holidays – There will be no regular classes. We will specify the make-up dates in the term calendar.

MOE School Holidays – No regular class will be conducted. Instead, we’ll offer creative writing workshops, oral development sessions, and booster classes to address learning gaps. Kindly refer to the term calendar for details.

Will there be homework?

Sometimes, it depends on the pace of the class. There will be less homework nearing exams. We usually assign simple homework, such as vocabulary exercises or comprehension cloze, as we normally practice English writing composition in class.

Is it too early for my primary 1 to enroll?

We believe that it’s beneficial to start as early as possible. At this tender age, their minds are exceptionally receptive, eagerly absorbing knowledge. By introducing them to proper English now, we’re setting up a strong foundation for better communication, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills as they grow.

Is there a trial class?

We understand that parents often have concerns about finding a tuition center that is suitable for and contributes to their English writing skills. To address these concerns, your child can attend our regular writing class at 50% off the usual fees.

Shoud I attend all four terms?

We strongly encourage that students attend all four terms as there are many Creative Writing techniques to learn on top of the foundation aspects of English language. Toward the end of the year, we focus on refining exam components.

As the students progress up each level from Primary 1 to 6, more advanced skills, phrases and themes will be introduced. Through our holistic approach, we ensure that every student not only excels academically but also develops valuable skills for life.

About A Class Act Learning Centre

What sets A Class Act apart from other centers?

In their long careers as former MOE teachers, the founders of A Class Act have a profound understanding of how much students benefit from close interaction with teachers.

Therefore, Our English writing classes are kept small and physically conducted in the centre to foster closer interactions between teachers and students, encourage higher peer engagement, and allow teachers to provide them with individualized guidance and give constructive feedback.

We’ve leveraged on the expertise of past MOE and School-based Curriculum Planners to curate the best teaching practices and design a Curriculum that will bring out the potential of our young learners. We ensure that our learning materials are always up to date with the latest MOE syllabus.

Our teachers are trained, dedicated and passionate to guide every child, regardless of their unique learning needs strive to become excellent communicators of the English Language.

Why A Class Act doesn't have online classes?

While online classes might offer convenience, the reduced supervision often decreases learning effectiveness. Face-to-face interactions enable students to grasp nuances in communication, intonation, and body language – skills crucial for effective verbal expression. It also allows us to observe each student’s progress closely, identify areas of improvement, and offer immediate feedback.

How will ACA programmes improve my child's English writing skills?

Our teaching techniques involve providing comprehensive guidance through examples and explanations, while also fostering independent practice for students. This approach ensures a strong foundation in English writing skills.

Every two weeks, students will study a new theme (based on commonly tested topics).

The first lesson will focus on the analysis of model writing pieces, vocabulary, comprehension based on the same theme and studying a writing skill.

The second lesson will include comprehension cloze, revision of writing skills and going through the students’ plots before they write out the composition.

How long would my child take to improve?

Children progress at their own pace. Some students notice significant improvement within 3 to 6 months of joining A Class Act, while others may take a bit more time.

Beyond just getting good grades, we believe that through attentive guidance in proper English writing techniques and by establishing a solid foundation through independent practice, we can unlock the potential of our young learners to excel as effective communicators of the English language.
